Calvados Apple Brandy

Calvados Apple Brandy

Held captive inside of the bottle from birth, these fragrant apples are sustained by a bath of the finest French apple brandy, known as Calvados. Our apple brandy is crafted from premium apples from the Calvados region in Normandy, France; crushed by their own weight, the fruit juices mix with natural yeast on the skins and naturally ferment, converting most of the fruit’s sugar into alcohol. About six weeks later, the natural fermentation ends and the fruit are sealed in a vat until distillation. Our brandies are distilled in traditional copper pot stills. Aged in oak barrels for more than two years, the resulting apple brandy is rich, aromatic and incredibly smooth. The Calvados terroir comes through into the apples and adds a slight earthy element to this brandy. Our Calvados is added it to the bottles where the fresh apples are trapped, preserving them in all their glory. Calvados is traditionally enjoyed after a large meal in France to help with digestion; affectionately called “Calva” by the French, a glass of this amber colored spirit is rumored to put a trou norman or “Normand hole” in your stomach, making room for a bit more food for the true gourmand. Ah, to spend a lifetime swimming in delicious apple brandy; captivity never sounded so sweet!
