BOISSET ACQUIRES MARIE BRIZARD USA
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 15th, 2003 - Boisset, La Famille des Grands Vins, is proud to announce the acquisition of Marie Brizard Wines & Spirits USA based in Florida. Marie Brizard Wines & Spirits, the importing company of Marie Brizard et Roger International (MBRI) - France, represent wines from various countries such as Italy, Australia, Spain, South Africa as well as a selection of imported and domestic spirits. The integration of the two organizations will take place at the beginning of 2004. Boisset, in its pursuit of greater distribution and expansion in the U.S. market, will benefit from incremental volume and diversity of product in order to better serve its distinguished customers.
Boisset, a family-owned business created in 1961, is today the third-largest wine company in France. It is number one in Burgundy and has established businesses from Chablis down to the Languedoc wine region, acting as a viniculteur (a term for vineyard manager, winemaker, winegrower and oenologist) that is deeply rooted in the vineyards. In 1999 Boisset created the Domaines collections which today include Domaine de la Vougeraie-Burgundy, Château La Croix Martelle-Minervois La Laviniére, Viña Progreso-Uruguay, and Veranda-Chile.
Marie Brizard Wines & Spirits (MBWS) markets the world-renowned Marie Brizard Liquers, Gautier Cognac, Marques del Puerto Rioja Wines, Grandin and Veuve du Vernay Sparkling Wines. MBWS is also a specialist of super-premium imported spirits, like Gosling's Rum of Bermuda, and owns a full range of domestic liqueurs and spirits.
Boisset America, of San Francisco, represents the following well-reputed houses: J. Moreau et Fils in Chablis, Domaine de la Vougeraie in Burgundy, Bouchard Aîné & Fils and Jaffelin in Beaune, Louis Bernard in the Rhône Valley, Françoise Chauvenet, Charles Viénot and Jean-Claude Boisset in the Côte de Nuits, Ropiteau Frères in Meursault, Mommessin, Thorin, Pellerin, Domaines & Châteaux in the Beaujolais, Caroline de Beaulieu and Méditéo in the Languedoc and sparkling wines with Louis Bouillot and Charles de Fère.
