Cuvée Signature and Pinossimo-Bouchard Aîné & Fils, traditional...and contemporary!

July, 2003, Beaune, France -- With the beginning of the 21st century, Bouchard Aîné & Fils enters a new era of its history and tradition: a wine merchant house founded in Beaune in 1750, by Michel Bouchard and his eldest (" aîné ") son Joseph. 253 years later, the House of Bouchard Aîné & Fils is perpetuating this tradition and adding a new dimension: to increasingly become a winemaking House. For the past three years, winemaker and oenologist Laurent Mairet has been directing this approach, sourcing the best grapes through strong partnerships in the vineyards with 30 growers.

Launched in spring 2001 with the mythical 2000 vintage, Cuvée Signature is the ambassador and ultimate expression of Bouchard Aîné & Fils' winemaking expertise. This selection includes ten rare appellations, villages, premiers and grands crus exclusively from the Côte d'Or, elaborated with a " garage wine " philosophy: micro cuvées of 50 to 300 cases each (2 to 12 Burgundy barrels), entirely vinified by Bouchard Aîné & Fils, using approximately 100 tons of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes sourced through 30 growers and estates. In total, this represents the vinification of 20 hectares of exceptional vines.

The 2001 vintage made its world debut at Vinexpo. It is already an amazing success, entirely reserved or allocated just like the 2000.

With Cuvée Signature, a symbolic range, the House of Bouchard Aîné & Fils opens the 21st century with a new dimension, signing wines of exceptional quality and style, monitored from vine to bottle, conveying the values and quality of a premium vineyard we have been promoting since 1750: that of Burgundy's greatest wines!

The 21st century is also the time of new wine consumers and new places to enjoy wine. All around the world, there are different tasting moments and occasions, both emerging and traditional. Sometimes sophisticated, sometimes casual, they give priority to pleasure, enjoyment, life and happiness. To celebrate these moments, these places and these consumers, Bouchard Aîné & Fils introduces Pinossimo, a Pinot Noir from the South of France, elegant and fruity, lively and distinctive, full of class and gaiety. A clear, simple, and attractive offer.

Brightly dressed with sun and light, Bouchard Aîné & Fils brings us a nice surprise, although still faithful to the varietal on which the House has built its reputation: the dear Pinot Noir. Introduced at Vinexpo, Pinossimo received an enthusiastic welcome from existing and prospective distributors. They were all seduced by the light, joy and charm of this wine, whose name, colors and style look and sound like a melody. A Pinot melody!
